SaaS SEO agency for the AI shortlist

Cited is a SaaS SEO agency for B2B software companies. Buyers now ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google’s AI Mode which tools to shortlist. We track those answers for your category, find the comparison pages and reviews engines cite, and write and earn the content that puts your product on the list.

How software buyers search now

A B2B buyer used to search “best CRM for startups”, open five listicles and build a shortlist. Now many of them ask an AI engine the same question and get the shortlist written for them, a few products with a sentence on each. If your product isn’t named, you are not on the list, and the demo request never comes.

Those answers draw heavily on comparison content. In our October 2026 study of 150 AI answers, more than half of the 48 answers to questions about AI visibility tools listed at least one tool vendor’s own website among their sources, usually a comparison or roundup page. Software companies that publish honest comparisons get read; those that don’t are described by their competitors’ pages instead.

What a SaaS SEO agency should cover

The pages that win software shortlists, in search and in AI answers
Page typeSearch intent it answersWhy engines cite it
Category pages“best [category] software for [team]”A clear statement of who the product is for
Comparison pages“[you] vs [competitor]”Side-by-side facts engines can lift
Alternatives pages“[competitor] alternatives”Buyers and engines both look for a list of options
Use-case and integration pages“[category] for [use case]”, “[tool] integration”Specific answers to fan-out searches
Review profiles“[you] reviews”Third-party evidence engines trust more than your own site

What you get

  • Prompt tracking for your category: shortlist, comparison and “alternatives to” questions, against the competitors buyers weigh you against.
  • Comparison, alternatives and category pages written by our copywriters, honest and sourced so engines trust them.
  • Technical SEO for marketing sites, docs and blogs, including crawler access for AI search bots.
  • Review and listing work on the software directories engines cite.
  • A weekly report that shows which prompts you entered or left, with lift measured against control prompts.

How it works

  1. Audit. We run your shortlist and comparison prompts across the engines and show who is named, in what order, and which pages are cited.
  2. Plan. We rank the gaps: missing comparison pages, weak category pages, absent review profiles.
  3. Write. Our copywriters produce the pages. See our content marketing services.
  4. Earn. We pursue placement on the roundups and directories engines cite for your category.
  5. Report. Weekly numbers per prompt and engine, and the work that moved them.

Month one, then every month after

Every month includes 80 to 85 hours of our team’s work. What it goes to changes as the evidence builds:

  • Month one: prompt set for your category, baseline across engines, technical audit of the marketing site and docs, crawler access fixed, review and directory profiles claimed, and the first comparison or category page.
  • Every month after: more comparison, alternatives and use-case pages, outreach to the roundups engines cite, and rewrites of pages that rank but are never quoted, in the order the numbers suggest.
  • Every week: a report showing which prompts you entered, which competitors left, and what we ship next.

Changes in AI answers usually take 60 to 90 days, so the first quarter is about building the evidence engines need. The three-month start exists for that reason.

SaaS SEO agency or B2B SEO agency?

Both. Buyers search for a B2B SEO agency and a SaaS SEO agency in roughly equal numbers, and the playbook is the same: long buying cycles, several stakeholders, and decisions shaped by comparisons and reviews. We work with software companies and with B2B services firms whose buyers research the same way.

Questions

Do you write comparison pages about our competitors?

Yes, honestly. Every claim about a competitor is dated and linked to its source. Engines and buyers both distrust one-sided comparisons, so balanced pages are the ones that get quoted.

How long until we show up in AI shortlists?

Changes in AI answers usually take 60 to 90 days after new pages are published and indexed. The weekly report shows each change as it happens.

Do you work with our in-house content team?

Yes. We can brief your writers from the AI answer data, write alongside them, or do it all. The weekly report covers everything that shipped.
