SEO agency and SEO services for AI search

Cited is an SEO agency that plans every piece of work for two results at once: ranking in Google and being cited in AI answers. We fix the technical problems that keep pages out of the index, rewrite pages to answer real questions, and earn the links and mentions engines trust.

Updated · By the Cited team

AI engines did not replace search engines; most of them run on top of one. Google’s own documentation says a page must be indexed and eligible to show with a snippet before it can appear as a link in AI Overviews or AI Mode. OpenAI says sites that block its search crawler, OAI-SearchBot, are not shown in ChatGPT’s search answers. If engines can’t find, crawl and read your pages, no amount of clever writing gets you cited.

So an SEO agency is still the foundation. What has changed is what the work is for. A page that ranks but never states an answer plainly is easy to skip; a page that answers clearly and carries evidence is the one engines quote. Our guide to GEO and SEO compares the two side by side.

What you get

  • A technical SEO audit and fixes, including crawler access for Googlebot, Bingbot, OAI-SearchBot and the other AI crawlers.
  • On-page optimization of the pages that matter most to revenue.
  • New content written by our copywriters, tied to the searches and prompts it targets.
  • Profile, listing and link work on the sites search and AI engines rely on.
  • Tracking of both worlds: Google Search results and AI answers, in one weekly report.

How it works

  1. Audit. We crawl your site, check what Google and the AI crawlers can reach, and run your prompts across the AI engines.
  2. Fix the foundation. The first month’s 80 to 85 hours go mostly to technical and on-page fixes and listing clean-up.
  3. Publish. Our copywriters write the pages your buyers’ questions need. See our content marketing services.
  4. Earn mentions. We pursue the listings, roundups and reviews that rank and that engines cite.
  5. Report weekly. Rankings and AI visibility side by side, with lift measured against control prompts.

What we check in a technical SEO audit

Every engagement starts with the plumbing, because nothing else works until search and AI crawlers can reach and read your pages. The audit covers:

  • Crawler access: robots.txt rules and firewall settings for Googlebot, Bingbot, OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Claude’s crawlers and the rest. A blocked crawler means a missing engine.
  • Indexing: which pages Google has indexed, which it skipped, and why: duplicates, thin pages, wrong canonicals or noindex tags left behind.
  • Canonicals and redirects: one address per page, no chains, no loops, and no site-wide canonical folding every page into the home page.
  • Sitemaps: every page listed once, with a last-modified date that moves only when the page changes.
  • Structured data: Organization, Article, Breadcrumb and FAQ markup that matches what the page shows.
  • Speed and rendering: whether your words are in the HTML or only appear after JavaScript runs, which many AI crawlers never do.
  • Internal links: whether your most important pages are linked from the pages engines already read.

Each finding gets a severity, the exact fix, and an owner: us, your developers, or both. Most sites have a handful of problems that matter and a long tail that doesn’t; we fix the ones that change what engines can see first.

SEO for local, SaaS and agency clients

The basics are the same everywhere, but the priorities change by business. A local business such as a dentist needs to be found on the map and in “near me” answers, so we start with local SEO services. A software company competes on comparison and category pages, so we start with our SaaS SEO agency playbook. Agencies can run the whole programme for their own clients through AI SEO and GEO for agencies.

How an engagement runs

Every engagement runs three months to start, then month to month. It includes both SEO and AI search work, 80 to 85 hours of it every month, and our tracking platform.

Questions

Do I still need an SEO agency if my buyers use ChatGPT?

Yes. Most AI engines search the web before they answer, and Google’s AI features only link to pages that are indexed and eligible for a snippet. Strong SEO is what gets your pages read in the first place.

Do you do link building?

We earn links and mentions through listings, profiles, roundups and digital PR on sites that rank and that engines cite. We don’t buy links.

How do you report SEO results?

One weekly report covers Google rankings and AI answers together: what moved, what changed and what we are doing next.
