How we chose and checked

Every tool here tracks how AI answer engines such as ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Gemini mention and cite brands. We read each vendor’s own home, pricing and documentation pages on 15 October 2026 and kept only what they say themselves. Where a vendor doesn’t state something, we say so rather than guess. Prices change often, so check the vendor’s page before you buy.

We are Cited, and Cited is on this list. We have tried to be fair: for most teams that only want a dashboard, one of the tools below will cost less than we do. We are the right choice when you want a team to act on the numbers, not only see them.

The tools, one by one

Cited: AI visibility done for you

Cited pairs an AI visibility platform with a team. We track your prompts across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Claude, plus Google Search; our strategists find the sources the engines cite, our copywriters write the content, we fix your listings and technical SEO, and we measure the lift by comparing target prompts with untouched control prompts. Its price is quoted for your business. There is no self-serve plan, public API or free trial; every engagement starts with a free AI visibility audit.

Profound

Profound calls itself “the AI marketing platform”. Its pricing page shows a free trial of 50 prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews for 7 days, and an Enterprise plan with up to 9 engines, exports, an API and SSO. It adds agents that create content, prompt volumes and agent analytics. In September 2026 it announced a $180M Series D. Read Profound AI vs Cited or our list of Profound alternatives.

Peec AI

Peec AI describes itself as “AI search analytics for marketing teams”. Its Starter, Pro and Advanced plans cost $95, $245 and $495 a month and track 50, 150 and 350 prompts on any 3 of 6 engines, with more engines as paid add-ons, unlimited users and daily tracking; Enterprise adds up to 13 models and SSO. It lists source analytics, gap analysis, Local GEO, a visibility lift analysis, MCP and an API. Read Peec AI vs Cited or our Peec AI alternatives.

Otterly.AI

Otterly.AI starts at $29 a month for 15 prompts and covers ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot on every plan, with AI Mode, Gemini and Claude as paid add-ons. Standard adds a Looker Studio connector, API and MCP requests. It is one of the cheapest ways to start tracking. Read Otterly AI vs Cited.

Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit

Semrush (an Adobe company) sells its AI Visibility Toolkit for $99 a month with 25 tracked prompts, and bundles AI tracking into its Semrush One plans. It adds prompt research with volume and difficulty, which suits teams who already run their SEO in Semrush. Read Semrush AI Toolkit vs Cited.

Ahrefs Brand Radar

Ahrefs Brand Radar tracks mentions and citations across six AI engines and, unusually, YouTube and Reddit too. Its AI Visibility Index is a ready-made prompt database built from Ahrefs’ keyword data, and custom prompts are included with paid Ahrefs plans. Read Ahrefs Brand Radar vs Cited.

Scrunch, AthenaHQ, Searchable, Goodie and Elmo

  • Scrunch (a Sitecore company) starts at $250 a month for 125 prompts on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot, with a 7-day free trial; Enterprise covers nine engines and adds API access.
  • AthenaHQ has a free plan with 300 credits and a $295 Starter plan covering 11 engines; Enterprise adds a certified GEO and SEO specialist.
  • Searchable starts at $125 a month with ChatGPT, AI Overviews and Perplexity, and bundles a Content Studio and site audits.
  • Goodie starts at $295 a month for 110 prompts on five engines, with a content writer, AEO strategist support and agents for outreach and technical fixes.
  • Elmo is open source under the MIT licence: free to self-host, or from $29 a month on Elmo Cloud, with an API and MCP on every plan.

How to choose a GEO or AEO tool

  1. Decide who does the work. A tool shows you where you stand; someone still has to write the pages, fix the listings and earn the sources. If that person doesn’t exist yet, budget for them or for a service.
  2. Check the engines on the plan you’ll buy. Several tools cover only three engines at the entry price and charge for the rest.
  3. Count prompts, not features. Twenty well-chosen prompts per product line usually tell you more than three hundred generic ones. Our guide to measuring AI visibility explains why.
  4. Ask how lift is measured. A rising line can be the market, not your work. Comparing target prompts against control prompts separates the two.

Tracking is not the same as results

Every tool above will tell you that a competitor is cited and you aren’t. The tools differ mostly in price, engines and features. The difference that moves the number is what happens next: the content, the listings and the sources. That is what Cited sells. If you would rather do that work yourself, pick the tool whose engines and price fit, and read our guide to generative engine optimization first.

Questions

What is the best AI visibility tool for a small business?

For tracking alone, Otterly.AI at $29 a month, AthenaHQ’s free plan or self-hosted Elmo cost the least. If you want someone to do the work, Cited is a done-for-you service priced per location.

Which AI visibility tools track the most engines?

On their top plans, Peec AI and Goodie list up to 13 models, AthenaHQ 11 on Starter, and Profound and Scrunch up to 9 on Enterprise. Entry plans usually cover one to six engines, so check the plan you will actually buy.

Do AI visibility tools write content for you?

Some draft it: Profound has content agents, Searchable a Content Studio, Goodie a content writer and Ahrefs its Letaido platform. Cited is different: our copywriters and strategists write, edit and publish the content, and fix listings, as a service.

Is this list biased?

It is written by Cited, which is on it, so read it with that in mind. Every fact about another vendor comes from that vendor’s own site on 15 October 2026, and each is linked under Sources.
