Ahrefs Brand Radar vs Cited: data or results?
Ahrefs Brand Radar tracks how six AI engines, plus YouTube and Reddit, mention your brand, and offers a ready-made prompt index, priced separately, built from Ahrefs’ keyword data. Cited is a done-for-you service: we track your prompts, then our strategists and copywriters ship the content, listings and SEO fixes that change the answers.

The short answer
Ahrefs Brand Radar is the AI visibility layer of a suite many SEO teams already use, with an unusually wide view: AI answers, YouTube, TikTok and Reddit in one place. Cited is for teams who want the outcome rather than the data. If you have SEO people on Ahrefs every day, Brand Radar adds AI search to their workflow. If you don’t, Cited supplies the people.

What Ahrefs Brand Radar does well
- A prompt index you don’t have to build. The AI Visibility Index draws on Ahrefs’ keyword data, so you can see visibility across many prompts at once.
- Video and forums. YouTube, TikTok and Reddit coverage beside AI answers.
- Fan-out queries. The searches engines run while they answer, alongside mentions and citations.
- AI traffic and bot analytics. How AI crawlers and AI referrals reach your site.
- Included for Ahrefs customers. Custom prompts are free on paid Ahrefs Lite plans and above.
Where Cited is different
Brand Radar shows where you are missing; Cited’s team fills the gap. We brief content from the exact sources each engine cites for your prompts, our copywriters write and publish it, and we fix your profiles, listings and technical SEO. Your strategist reports every week on what moved, and we compare target prompts with control prompts so you can see what the work changed.
Cited’s price is quoted for your business and includes the team. We don’t track YouTube or TikTok mentions, and we offer no API or self-serve plan. If your team lives in Ahrefs and has time to act, Brand Radar is a natural add-on.
How Ahrefs counts custom prompts
Brand Radar measures custom prompts in checks, one check per prompt for each platform, location and update. Ahrefs’ landing page lists 150 checks for 5 prompts on Lite, 300 checks for 10 prompts on Standard, 600 checks for 20 prompts on Advanced, and Enterprise from 2,500 checks for 83 prompts. Claude costs 8 checks per update. The AI Visibility Index, a separate prompt database built from Ahrefs’ keyword data, is priced on its own.
In practice that makes Brand Radar strong for a wide, market-level view and lighter for tracking a long list of your own prompts on every engine. Cited works the other way round: a hand-picked set of prompts that decide your sales, tracked on every engine we cover, with a team working to move each one.
