Semrush AI Toolkit vs Cited: data or results?
The Semrush AI Toolkit, sold as the AI Visibility Toolkit, adds AI visibility tracking to the Semrush suite for $99 a month with 25 prompts. Cited is a done-for-you service: we track your prompts on every engine we cover, and our strategists and copywriters ship the content, listings and SEO fixes that change the answers.

The short answer
If your team already runs SEO in Semrush, its AI Visibility Toolkit is the easiest way to add AI tracking: same login, same reports, plus prompt research with search volume. Cited is for teams who want someone to act on the numbers. One is a data add-on; the other is a service with a platform inside it.

What the Semrush AI Toolkit does well
- One place for SEO and AI search. For teams already on Semrush, AI data sits beside rankings and site audits.
- Prompt research. Topic-level volume, difficulty and intent, so you can choose what to track.
- Brand Performance. Share of voice, sentiment and narratives, updated weekly, with daily prompt tracking.
- An AI search site audit. Checks for blockers that stop AI crawlers reading your pages.
- A clear starting price. $99 a month for 25 prompts, with CSV exports.
Where Cited is different
Semrush gives you data and leaves the work to you. Cited’s team does the work: we find the sources each engine cites for your prompts, write the content that answers them, fix profiles, listings and technical SEO, and earn mentions on the sites the engines read. Every week your strategist reports what moved, measured against control prompts that got no new work, so you can see what the work changed.
Cited costs more than the toolkit, because the price includes the people. We don’t offer exports, an API or a self-serve plan; if you want AI data inside a suite your team already uses every day, Semrush is the natural choice.
How Semrush prices AI tracking
Semrush sells AI visibility two ways. The AI Visibility Toolkit is an add-on at $99 a month with 25 prompts; 50 more prompts cost $60 a month, and every extra user and every extra domain or location costs $99 a month. Semrush One bundles SEO and AI search: an SEO plan at $139 a month, Starter at $199 with 50 prompts, Pro+ at $299 with 100 prompts, and an Advanced plan with unlimited prompts at a custom price. Annual billing lowers each of those.
The per-domain and per-location charge matters for multi-location businesses and agencies: each site or location you add costs another $99 a month before any work is done on it. Cited prices per location too, but each location’s price includes the team that writes the content, fixes the listings and reports on it.
